62nd WORLD AIRLINE SKI CHAMPIONSHIP TROMSO Norway MARCH 12-17, 2023 |
Tromso Norway is located 350 km north of the Arctic Circle. The small city bills itself as Norway's gateway to the Arctic. Tromso is northern Norway largest city. Surrounded by chilly fjords and craggy peaks that remain snowcapped for much of the year, it's best known as one of the better places in Norway to spot the Northern Lights. Aside from the ski mountain, most of our events will be within walking distance from area hotels. The ski area will be closed to the public during the day for WASC. It will open to the public in the evenings for night skiing. There will be bus service from the hotel area to the ski mountain for all registrants so there is no necessity to rent a car. You will not need to ski to watch the events however most of you will want to experience the amazing views from the top of the mountain. Currency is the Norwegian Kroner (NOK) the exchange rate is currently 1 US dollar = 10 Kroner. REGISTRATION: Registration is now open. Please follow the link below to register. The fee is $360 that includes WASC REGISTRATION FEE ($250) which includes RACING, OPENING CEREMONIES, THEME PARTY WEDNESDAY, FUN RACE THURSDAY and FORMAL DINNER THURSDAY NIGHT It also includes our AA fee $110 including team swag, costume and “fun race” hospitality table. DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: December 15th GETTING THERE: Non revving to Europe is a great option but non revving into Tromso may be challenging. We recommend purchasing tickets from a spot in Europe to Tromso such as Oslo or Helsinki. There are a few airlines that fly into Tromso such as SAS, Norwegian, Flyr, Wideroe, and Finnair. It is recommended that you buy a seat to TROMSO (very limited service on Saturday). On Friday there are more options. Airlines serving TOS include Norwegian, FLYR, Wideroe, Finnair and SAS. ACCOMODATIONS: The city is small and charming. Ski mountain is a shuttle ride away. No on slope accommodations. There are no team sanctioned hotels but the committee did block rooms at THE RADISSON BLU. The discounted per night rate starts at approximately US $120.00 per night per person. The Radisson includes breakfast. It is centrally located, close to the bus to ski mountain and events and close to parties. If you do not want to stay at the Radisson feel free to explore other lodging options at the link below. LIFT TICKET/RENTAL EQUIPMENT: Lift tickets approximately $32 per day and rental info and discounts to be announced. SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS:
