BILLY KIDD PERFORMANCE CENTER
Billy Kidd (Not Billy THE Kidd) is touted as the “first great American male Alpine skier”. He was the first American male to win an Olympic medal when he won a silver in the slalom and a bronze in the alpine combined in 1964. In 1970 Billy won the world alpine combined event to become the first American male world champion.
Billy has built one of the premier ski and snowboard training centers in the United States by assembling a world class instructional staff. Our coaches will have Olympic and/or World Cup race experience. This is much more than “ski school” this is TRAINING CAMP.
You do not need to be a top skier/rider to enjoy or reap the benefits of this camp. In fact the low to middle level skiers/riders usually learn the most and make the greatest strides in their performance.
Each year we have beginning snowboarders and skiers. The beginners usually receive virtually private lessons at a much discounted group rate. You will find no better or faster way to learn to ski or ride.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRAINING CAMP
For those that have never attended, I will give you a brief explanation/description so that you will know what to expect.
Most of our team will arrive in Steamboat Springs on SUNDAY December 7th.
Training begins on MONDAY morning, December 8th with a FREE breakfast and a brief chalk talk from Billy Kidd. After breakfast we will be divided into skill levels and assigned a coach.
The groups usually average 6 or 8 students per coach. Your coach will ski/ride a run or two with the group in order allow the students to warm up and to evaluate the skill levels. If you or your coach thinks you would learn more in a higher or lower you will be reassigned. Remember this is YOUR camp and you want to be in the group where you will learn the most.
Your group and coach will ski/ride together all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The camaraderie is fantastic and most people request to get the same coach year after year. For new team members, this will be your base for making new friends and determining who you will want to free ski with during the season.
OUR Camp includes:
Coaching from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily
Lift Tickets
Free Breakfast and Chalk Talk on Monday morning
Video Analysis
Unlimited Timed Runs
Pub Crawl
Fun Race
End of Camp Awards with Evaluations on the final day
A maximum of 8 students per class (minimum size of 3 students per class)
Certified Instructors (at least three Olympic/World Cup Coaches)
Gate Training (GS, SL and Snowboard)
TRAINING and LIFT TICKET COSTS:
LIFT TICKETS and TRAINING PACKAGES
Three Day Lift Ticket/ 3 Days Training $300
Four Day Lift Ticket/4 Days Training $400
($39/Day Lift Tickets & $61/Day Training)
One and Two day Training packages are also available, but remember this is a "Camp" not a "Clinic". A "Clinic" is designed to give you a few pointers in a couple hours. A "Camp" is designed to build on multiple days of instruction.
Most people will agree you will have the best chance to improve your skiing/boarding if you spend all day with the same instructor three of four days in a row.
REGISTRATION:
AA Training Camp Registration will be in the lobby of the Steamboat Grand on Sunday afternoon/evening(1700 till 1900). Monday Morning registration will be at Breakfast in Bear River from 0700 till 0830.
