International Ski Week
WASC-World Airline Ski Championships
GARMISCH/PARTENKIRSHEN GERMANY
March 2-7th, 2008
From your Room Mom, Louise McKee:
Hi all ski and snowboard enthusiasts. Welcome back to the ‘07-’08 ski season. I can’t wait for it to start. I am looking forward to meeting many new Team members and can’t wait to catch up with all returning ski buddies.
One of my favorite trips of the season is the International Ski Meet and I hope many of you are planning on going. The Europeans know how to put on a fantastic show. It’s a great time and I promise you it will exceed your expectations.
Even though the meet seems far away, NOW is the time to sign up. The sooner we can make our room reservations the better. For those of you that have not been to an International ski week before, it’s important for you to know that all planning and reservations are made through your room mom.
Again, NOW is the time to sign up. I will need a check for the registration fee in the amount of $250. Yes, that is the registration fee for the international meet. Seems a bit high? I guarantee you, it will cover many fun and exciting events throughout the week including food and drinks (…gluhwein maybe…). Unfortunately this is a time of a very weak dollar.
I will try to reserve double and triple rooms including breakfast for a decent rate between 30-50 EUROS per person per night. Again that is per person per night. So for the week it will range between 180-300 EUROS per person. This is all the info I have on rooms at this time. Again the sooner you sign up the sooner I can make reservation. If you are in doubt whether or not you can go, I would advise you send a check anyway. We can more than likely find someone to replace you or try to get you a refund later.
LIFT TICKET prices as listed:
1 day Classic area 27.50 EUROS
2 day Classic area 51.50 EUROS
1 day Zugspitze 32.50 EOROS
TWIN Tickets 62.00 EUROS
3 day Happy ski card 83.50 EUROS
5 day Happy ski card 134.50 EUROS
Happy ski card 4 of 6 125.00 EUROS
As of early November, 300 EUROS = $440 ($1=€0.68) XE.COM
If you are bringing kids 18 years and younger there are discounted tickets for them.
AIRPORT of choice is MUNICH and INNSBROOK. From there it’s about a one to one and a half hour shuttle ride. The price of the shuttle is 15 EUROS one way per person. I need to reserve shuttles so please let me know when you need one set up.
We will also collect a fee to cover amenities including a Team shirt. That fee will be approximately $25.
I have included the schedule of events in the November Newsletter. Take a moment and look it over.
Things are scheduled a little different from our domestic meets. There will only be one GS and SL event. No A and B teams. The Snowboarders have a qualifying event on Monday and finals on Wednesday. One of the Nordic event is on Tuesday, which is in conflict with the GS at this time and will probably stay that way. If you are racing Nordic on Thursday you may not want to buy a lift ticket for that day. Also the FUN RACE is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 PM. It’s a crazy fun afternoon and you DON”T WANT TO MISS IT!
Last but not least get ready to DISCO on Wednesday Night Fever – Disco Lives Theme Party.
This is all the information I have at this time. More will come in following Newsletters. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Please mail a $250 check to Int'l Room Mom:

Note: The proper name of this event is the World Airline Ski Championship or WASC. If you are lucky enough to be able to attend you will see this acronym on all the signs and welcome boards. More so than the acronym of the group which plans the meet, IASF (International Airline Ski Federation.)
